        • Our story

Lighting a path to achieve community hygiene.

We came together with a common goal, to be proactive in the pursuit of safe spaces and improvement of hygiene in our countries of origin. The Coronavirus outbreak in 2019 left us in despair as we wondered, how would the 3rd world manage such an uphill battle? What can we do to prevent this happening again? Will we ever travel, meet with loved ones, go to our place of work, sit in a restaurant, go to the cinema, attend a wedding or a play at school and feel safe again?

We saw a stark contrast in the approach to CDC guidelines across the globe. Self-preservation attitudes around the supply of vaccinations meant some parts of the world would not receive it for years. Africa is plagued with poor hygiene systems and diseases that can be easily eradicated. In South East Asia, density and cultural social habits could spread a disease as fast than the speed of light. However if we choose to be proactive, we can limit the damage done from consistent disease outbreaks like Ebola and Covid-19 which will have a positive holistic effect globally.

We opted to do something about it. In 2019, we started as a team of three women, then we became five. As people of colour, we knew the immediate pain points in the 3rd world, so we began developing ideas and exchanging solutions then HyGear was born. We have gotten help from amazing advisors along the way and now with two patents pending, we are embarking on research studies in the UK, USA and Africa to test our technology, secure collaborative partnerships and build a network to distribute Far-UVC products to regions that need it the most. We are very excited for what the future holds.
